With the intent to find a bridge between solutions provided by city and metropolis planners, on the one hand, and problems discovered by social researchers, on the other, El Colegio de Jalisco is summoning to the "Re-inventing the Metropolis" International Conference to be held in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, on October 14, 15, and 16, 2009.

The metropolis is an unquestionable reality. Reinventing it leads to guiding its future, assuring quality of life and physical, legal, and environmental conditions of sustainability which make it possible. Innovation is the key word. The fundamental position is prospective. Wait for problems until they arrive, is the attitude to be modified.
